History/Years In Service

Tobey Sheet Metal has deep roots in the region’s HVAC industry.

In 1947 Kenneth Lilly formed Dolby & Lilly Sheet Metal. The business grew to a 100 employee shop before its demise due to an untimely death to Mr. Lilly in the early seventies. During most of those years Charles Tobey worked for Ken Lilly. Shortly thereafter, Tobey Company was founded by Charles Tobey in 1974. Charles started in a small facility behind his house with his sons and just a few employees.

The business incorporated in 1985 and the name changed to Tobey Sheet Metal, Inc. which included a move to the current location in 1986. The facility at the time was a 6,000 square foot building. Charles Tobey retired in 1990 and the business was purchased by his son – Dana Tobey.

Since taking over the business Dana Tobey has continued to expand the current facility, upgrade equipment and implement the latest technologies. Manufacturing space expansions have been on going and currently stand at 14,000 sq.ft. A 2006 renovation expanded the office capacity to over 6,000 sq.ft. As of today the company is home to a work force to over fifty employees.
